Estimated Cost

How do we calculate the Estimated Cost?

Estimated Costs should not be used as an official quote, rather an indication of what your costs may be when you compare from our range of energy plans and providers. Your actual energy cost may vary depending on your energy usage, solar generation if applicable, meter type, and distributor charges.

We calculate the Estimated Cost based on:

If you have a copy of your bill: we include your usage and any applicable solar generation for the number of days in the billing period you provide based on the meter type at your property.

If you are a Victorian Time of Use or a Time of Use with Controlled Load customer and your bill does not include solar soak usage (11am–4pm), or you enter zero: Your total usage that you have entered on our website will be split across peak, off-peak and solar soak usages using the average residential usage percentages published by the Essential Services Commission (ESC) in the Victorian Default Offer (2026-27 Final Determination, May 2026), for the purpose of calculating your Estimated Cost only. Your actual entered usage total will not be changed (this also includes Controlled Load usage amounts).

If you do not have a copy of your bill: we have made the following assumptions to determine the Estimated Cost amount:

If you are moving home, we apply the same assumptions as if you do not have a copy of your bill.

At the time of your comparison, rates and charges, provided to us by our partners, are displayed based on the electricity or gas meter type at your property.

Your bill amount can vary due to seasonal fluctuations, when your meter is read, your usage and the number of billing days. For these reasons, the Estimated Costs shown should not be annualised to calculate your yearly costs or costs over your contract period.
